Progressing cavity pumps include product moving elements:  rotors and stators.  When rotated, cavities are formed between the threads of the single external helical threaded rotor and the double-helix internal thread stator.  These cavities (or pumping chambers) progress down the length of the stator, moving the product from one end of the pump to the other.
